Meet Emily

Emily Niess, LIMHP

About me

Hi, I’m Emily, a Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner (LIMHP). I earned my Master of Science in Clinical Counseling from Bellevue University in 2019. Since then, I’ve supported survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse, provided short-term counseling through Employee Assistance Programs (EAP), and worked in private practice since 2022.

These experiences have shaped how I approach therapy and the people who come through my door. My work with trauma has taught me that meaningful therapy begins with connection and safety. Clinical knowledge matters, but so does feeling comfortable, understood, and accepted by the person sitting across from you.

Omaha is home. I see clients in person at my office on Oakmont Drive in Omaha, and I’m licensed in Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, Vermont, and Arizona, so I can offer telehealth to clients located in any of those states.

I know that starting therapy can mean stepping into uncomfortable territory. That’s why I’ve intentionally created a space that feels more like a cozy living room—a place to settle in, take a breath, and be yourself without judgment. Therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all. Our work will reflect your individual needs, goals, and pace.

Outside the office, I enjoy spending time with my husband, our two dogs, and our two cats. They keep us busy and thoroughly entertained. I find comfort in slowing down and being intentional—which is another way of saying I’m a homebody who loves being surrounded by the people, animals, and little things that bring peace.

Who I work with & specialties

I work with adolescents, adults, and couples, tailoring therapy to each person’s experiences and needs.

Adolescents

I especially enjoy working with teenagers as they navigate relationships, emotions, identity, and growing independence. My goal is to help them feel heard while building the confidence, coping skills, and healthy boundaries they can carry into adulthood.

Women’s Mental Health

I hold certification as a Women’s Mental Health Specialist. This work holds a special place in my heart, and I value creating space for women to explore their experiences, needs, and emotional well-being without judgment.

Reproductive Mental Health

I also hold certification as a Reproductive Mental Health Specialist, another area deeply meaningful to me. I offer a compassionate space to process the emotions and experiences connected to reproductive mental health, with care shaped around each individual.

Trauma & Relationship Experiences

My professional background includes supporting survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse. That experience informs my emphasis on safety, trust, collaboration, and allowing clients to move at a pace that feels manageable.

My goal for the practice

My goal is to offer a warm, nonjudgmental space for personal growth, emotional support, and healing. Therapy is a partnership, and your voice matters throughout the process.

We’ll identify goals together and revisit them as your needs change. I welcome feedback about what is helpful, what isn’t, and when you need a different pace or focus. You can ask to pause, take a break, or approach something differently.

Meet Wrigley

Wrigley is my Golden Retriever and certified therapy dog. She occasionally joins me in the office to offer comfort and companionship to clients who enjoy having her nearby.

She won’t be here every day—her schedule also includes naps, neighborhood squirrel patrol, and time with her four-legged siblings.

Your comfort comes first. If you prefer a session without Wrigley, simply let me know. No explanation is needed.
