Frequently Asked Questions
Starting therapy raises a lot of questions. Here are some of the most common ones.
I see clients in person in Omaha and offer telehealth in Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, Vermont, and Arizona.
You don’t need to have the “right” words or a perfectly defined goal to start therapy. You may be looking for help with a particular challenge, wanting to understand yourself better, or needing a supportive place to process what you’re experiencing.
Therapy is collaborative. We’ll talk about what brings you in and what you hope to get from our time together.
Our first session is a chance for me to get to know you and learn what brings you to therapy. We’ll cover a few housekeeping details, and you’re welcome to ask questions at any point.
Meeting a new therapist can feel nerve-wracking, so we’ll take it at a comfortable pace. My goal is to help you feel heard, supported, and at ease.
Therapy takes time, participation, and patience. Some sessions may involve working directly on goals or exploring difficult emotions. Others may give you space to talk through everyday experiences and feel supported.
Your goals can change as your life changes. We’ll check in about what you need and adjust our focus together. If something feels overwhelming, you can let me know—we can slow down or take a break.
Yes. Telehealth appointments are available when clinically appropriate.
In-person sessions take place at my office in Omaha. I am licensed in Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, Vermont, and Arizona. I can provide telehealth sessions when you are physically located in one of these states, whether you live there or are visiting. If you’ll be in another state at the time of your appointment, please let me know so we can reschedule for when you return to a state where I’m licensed.
If you cannot attend in person, please let me know as early as possible so we can determine whether a virtual appointment is suitable. Occasionally, technical difficulties may prevent a virtual session from taking place.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please notify me as soon as possible. Advance notice gives me an opportunity to offer that appointment to someone waiting for an opening.
I do not routinely charge for late cancellations. If late cancellations become frequent, we’ll discuss the barriers and develop a plan together.
Appointments missed without any communication are subject to a $100 no-show fee, where permitted by your insurance plan and applicable requirements.
I’ll make every effort to reschedule promptly, although another appointment in the same week may not be available.
My current availability is always reflected in the client portal. For the quickest way to schedule or reschedule, please use the portal rather than texting me for appointment times.
Appointments outside regular office hours are limited, and I take one Saturday off each month for personal and family time.
Occasionally, I may need to reschedule due to illness, family responsibilities, continuing education, or other obligations. I’ll notify you as soon as I’m able and work with you to find another appointment.
Wrigley occasionally joins sessions in the office. If you prefer that she not be present, please let me know. Your preference will be accommodated, and you do not need to provide a reason.
Privacy is an important part of building trust in therapy. Information is handled confidentially, subject to the disclosures permitted or required by law and described in your consent and privacy documents.
Exceptions may involve serious safety concerns, suspected abuse or neglect, or legally required disclosures. Information may also be shared with your authorization. We’ll review confidentiality and its limits, including how they apply to your care.
You’re welcome to text or email between appointments. My goal is to respond within 24 hours, although responses may take longer due to office hours and personal or family commitments.
Messages are not monitored continuously and should not be used for emergencies.

My practice focuses on therapy for personal growth, emotional support, and healing. I do not offer custody evaluations or accept referrals for the purpose of providing court testimony or other forensic services.
If you need custody-related or legal evaluation services, I can help you identify a professional who specializes in that work. This practice focus does not override legally required obligations.
